To begin, a PSA: this is a purely vegetarian restaurant with vegan friendly options. Now that that's out of the way, this is a small, friendly, family run Southern Indian restaurant. As the name says, mainly serving different varieties of dosa, but they have other items as well such as: samosas, chappathi, rice and so on. Their selection of dosa offer a large variety such as: cheese, masala, ghee, and so on. If you do plan on eating in, remember to follow these steps: seat yourself, view the menu and then go to the front to place your order. You will be given a number to place on your table and then your food will be delivered to you. Definitely recommend getting sime masala or chai tea while you wait for your food.
They are closed temporarily because of renovation but there status online showed they are open. Atleast update it online so that people do not waste there money in cab nor waste the time.
I just went for the 2 samosas for $1 and they were delicious! All the food looks great and very reasonably priced.
My favorite place to go to get authentic Indian food that is easy on the budget. Always tasty and fresh, service is prompt and friendly. I eat here on the reg!
Simple restaurant, staff was polite, good food, reasonable price
Family run restaurant serving up south Indian vegetarian fare. Great food at a good value, especially for takeout. We usually get the vegan box and it's delicious. You can't beat their selection of deep fried goodies - A paper bag full of samosas, pakoras and other treats for roughly five dollars - the perfect snack when you're on the go!
Came here to grab a lunch, 12:15 pm, it is closed, information on Google is not updated. Lady on the phone taking about South common centre, apperantly they have a wrong phone number on Google, spend 15 minute trying to explain her that in am on Bloor and Lansdowne, Shree just do not listen
Good people, nice food but not properly maintained.
So thankful Dosa Mahal is back on Bloor! This place has been one of my regular spots since I moved to the area 7 years ago. So many delicious vegan and gluten free options! Welcome back :)
Lovely staff, best value for takeout Samosa and Pakora. Gluten free options, the vegan takeout box is everything.
Doesn't look like much and the service is uneven but for the price and taste, wins every time. One thing I don't like - they never have paratha when I visit. Make more paratha ;)
When I walked into the shop, I was greeted by the most positive and sweet individual. I told her about how excited I was to try their food, and this was the first meal take-out meal I had in a long time (thanks to Covid). This place is amazing, I had more food than I knew what to do with, and I was also given a very sweet note when I opened up about a few things that were happening in my life. It's amazing to know that great food and service still exists, and so close to home.Thank you thank you thank you for all the good you out back into the world.
Delicious food in a setting that could use some renovations and interior decoration treatment. A lot of dosa varieties to pick from for the gluten free vegan and vegetarian. They don’t always have chai which was disappointing but they are happy to make menu changes as you desire which is great.
I've been coming here for years, and the food portions, quality, and service have definitely slipped. That being said, you can still get a tasty meal for a very reasonable price here.I wonder if something is happening in the lives of the owners. For years the service was so friendly and welcoming. I've found it to not be very friendly anymore. I'll still go there anyway, because all the years of awesomeness secured my business.
This place was a great restaurant. They've been closed for about a year now.
Love the food the service the prices... Very authentic and very kind generous portions :)
Delicious flavourful food, perfect for vegans and cheap! So good. Had a sampler with a friend, and we each also had a dosa served on a metal tray with compartments for all the fixings. If you're in the area, give a go!
Cheap and yummy. Even my picky eater kids don't leave a molecule on their plates. Family owned, great selection, they are so nice. Sometimes a small line up because of take out. Best Indian food I have tried in Toronto maybe because I keep coming back.
This place is the best! The dosa is to die for. I ate there three times in just one weekend!Lovely staff. Very affordable. Authentic. Just wonderful.
Absolutely delicious food and even friendlier staff! Their finger foods are addictive and the dosa plates are out of this world, best dosa in the city. Make sure to try the chutney!
Love this place. Simple vegan south Indian cuisine. Great dosa! Food prepared with love.
Amazing taste and amazing value... what else do you want :) The food is healthy, fresh, the service is nice.
big smiles everytime we come in... these people are serious about flavour and the cuisine is priced right. This place always has people dining in and taking out everytime I go with my friends. A classic Toronto family business!!
Very Good Dosa and a solid value. Not too expensive and a good choice of Dosa and toppings and chutney. Convenient location. We always enjoy a tasty vegetarian meal with a couple of soft drinks. Service is professional - but you order at the counter. The pekora is also tasty.
Kind staff and good south Indian food brought back wonderful memories of India. The Mysore dosa is tasty and just spicey enough. The thali was very good as well. The mango shake was a bit too sweet, but that's a minor nitpick. Ask for the chilly peppers, they are slow fried in salty oil and are carefully stuffed with dried mango. Delicious.
Delicious home cooked style south Indian meals at fair prices. Been coming here for years and the staff (mainly family members) are all very friendly!! Never change! 😊
Really amazing. First time here and we were blown away. It was really busy but the staff were still very kind and attentive. The food was incredible and was very affordable - shockingly so, especially for the quality of taste. Five stars. Thanks so much.
Great food at an affordable price. And the people were nice too. I tried their popular #61 spicy pizza dosa, and #50 onion dosa with a friend and loved the taste. If you love spicy food, you may not find it so, but the favours are lovely. Would definitely go back again.
Not bad guys ! ill come back if im in the area
Amazing flavours! Really enjoyed the food here. We tried a vegetable thali and an onion masala dosa plate. Really full favoured sambar and chutneys came with the meal. Our curry of the day was lentil and okra and it definitely did not disappoint. Great quick service too. We had a masala coffee to end it off. Would highly recommend it and I am going back soon.
Very good, staff are kind and friendly and the food really gives you a taste of South India. Try the Eggplant curry if you want a good takeout!
Amazing service. wonderful food and plenty of delicious vegan options. Great prices as well. Best Indian cuisine in Toronto.
Well, I decided i give it a try, and I started some conversation about India itself, how great food there, how what and why. You have to see reaction of the staff. She told me if I like India to "go there and die", but she very likes Canada and like if I do not have money, I do not need to pay. I left my money for my food and left. I will no recommend this place to anyone based on enormously strange staff behavior.PS Samosa I did purchase was not very bad inside, and not even close to India from dough perspective, like canadian dough. Not sure was it fresh or was even from fridge.
Cheap food priced high. Big plate little food. Went there on two occasions and I was still hungry both times after finishing my food. And there is nothing special about the food. There are way more better Indian food in the city.
Meh looking restaurants in downtown Toronto tend to always have the best food!! You gotta order the ghee spinach dosa!! A must. Sweet older lady and her family own this joint and there’s something good about that.
Don't go here! This place is trash. They never clean the floors and the bathrooms are a complete disaster. Imagine what the kitchen looks like? They use so much msg and poor quality ingredients that can make you sick. Shame on this place. The girl serving is extremely rude at all times, especially if you are a female. The mom is nice and is trying her best, but her daughter is driving away customers.
great vegetarian offering
I like to pick up delicious, Indian treats from here about once a month. The food is excellent, and I've always felt looked after when I've dined in. I'd also like to note that in the summer, the mango slush really hits the spot.
Pizza Dosa was amazing!!!!
This is a small family operation on Bloor Street. They're super nice and friendly people and the food is clean and healthy. The restaurant look and ambiance could use some updating. If you are looking for some decent South Indian food that's not too spicy, with muted flavors and prepared using less oil then you will love this place. Hence 3/5 from me.
I go here really regularly with friends (we're all vegan). The owners and staff are lovely, the food is always fresh and delicious, and it's affordable. The decor isn't salubrious but the food and service make up for that! Highly recommended.
Great restaurant that serves vegan food. I really enjoyed the food, but found some dishes to be too bland, and some dishes to be too greasy (it may be because I do not eat South Indian cuisine often). The portions are nice, and the pricing fair; would definitely recommend for vegans!
Great vegetarian and vegan food! Not super healthy but super yummy and easy on the wallet. Really like their new store layout too.
Amazing food and very affordable!! They have been closed due to fire damage ( i think ) and I miss their food every day!!! The samosas are incredible and they have this yogurt mango drink I crave daily. I hope they reopen soon because I miss the incredible food, great prices, and kind servers:)
Very friendly family business with outstanding food. From the dosas to the samosas, the food is incredibly tasty and varied, and there is never a wait. (The samosas used to have a better (crispier) dough. They seem to now have a chewier dough. Not as good.) Nevertheless, highly recommended!
Not a whole lot of variety.. its ok
So happy that this reopened. A Bloordale staple.
This place is amazing. Great family, really kind and always welcoming. Food is great and at a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend.
Picked up a couple of dosas from here, wait was long but service was very friendly and professional. Very reasonable prices, and they don't skimp on the spice level like some other places. Excellent veggie options, including the soy mango shake.
Fantastic South Indian food. Probably the best in downtown Toronto for authentic South Indian experience. The Plain Masala Dosa is absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend this as someone who is South Indian.
